German journalists conclude working visit to Belize
Belize City, Monday, June 19th, 2017: Representatives of five top German media outlets have concluded a four-day working visit to key tourism areas in Belize as part of a three-country tour organized by the Central America Tourism Agency (CATA).
The team was comprised of Susanne Kilimann from Magazine Forum, Stefan Keiffer of Rhein Zetung Newspaper, Bernhard Mogge from Diereise Oneline Journal, Britta Matzen from Madsack Weekly and Robin Hartmann from Journalismusbü Hartman News Agency.
The team arrived in Belize on Sunday, 11th June as part of their last leg of a tour to Central America, which included Panama and Nicaragua. In Belize, they visited the Warasa Garifuna Drum School in Punta Gorda, the Nim Li Punit archaeological site, Placencia Village and Laughing Bird Caye among others.
The main purpose of the journalists’ visit was to obtain a first-hand experience of the Belize tourism product, with the potential to produce several articles on Belize in their respective publications. The visit was facilitated by the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) in support of participating stakeholders.
CATA aims to contribute to the significant growth of tourism in the Central American region through international related promotion and positioning. Its general mission is to increase the recognition of Central America as a highly competitive, innovative and diverse tourism multi-destination product.
In addition, CATA also aims to increase the flow of visitors and build synergies with the trade sector in the target markets, within the continuous marketing efforts, facilitating contacts and business opportunities for the Central American region, which has a population of over 40 Million inhabitants.
CATA is comprised of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Belize as the only English speaking country in Central America.
The aforementioned media outlets combined have the potential to reach approximately 60 million viewers in Western and Central Europe. Europe is one of Belize’s target markets and therefore the articles emanating from these publications means a tremendous boost for BTB’s efforts to promote Belize’s tourism in Europe and beyond.
