The new facility features a staging area, food distribution area, modern restrooms, playground, seating area, and a pergola. Designed to function as a focal point for both organized tours and community gatherings, the Welcome Center will provide access to cultural and historical information about the region, enhancing visitor experiences while fostering community pride.

At the official inauguration ceremony, Mrs. Nicole Usher Solano, CEO in the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, underscored the strategic importance of the center’s location, given its close proximity to key tourism sites such as the Xunantunich Archaeological Reserve. Hon. Jorge Espat, Cayo West Area Representative, celebrated the successful partnership that brought this project to fruition, noting that collaborations such as these are vital for community development.

The ceremony also featured remarks from Dr. Amin Hegar, Chairman of Cayo West, and Mr. Marcelo Torres. Additionally, Mr. Francisco Torres shared an insightful historical overview of the village, highlighting San Jose Succotz’s rich cultural legacy.

The San Jose Succotz Welcome Center not only enhances the local infrastructure but also supports Belize’s tourism sector by improving access, services, and experiences for visitors. As a key addition to western Belize’s tourism offerings, the center is set to encourage increased visitation to the area, drive economic benefits for residents, and promote the preservation of Belize’s cultural heritage.
